Why subscribe to this newsletter?

There are hundreds of NLP newsletters out there – and you probably already subscribe to too many to keep up with. This one’s different: we limit the editorialising, but use the space to ensure you get the most comprehensive view of what’s happening in the NLP industry, capturing news that others ignore. Think of it as your end-of-week safety check to make sure you didn’t miss something important.

Who am I?

Your curator is Robert Dale, an internationally-recognised expert in NLP with 40 years’ experience in academia and industry, now operating as an independent consultant; check out some recent writings on Medium to get a sense of my take on things.

What’s the newsletter’s focus?

The key focus is what’s happening in the NLP business, and less so what’s new on the research front; there are already many newsletters that do an excellent job of the latter. I wanted a comprehensive picture of commercial NLP activity across the board, and couldn’t find one, so I created the newsletter to address that need.

How is the newsletter created?

Using a combination of automatic processing and manual curation, I scan around 500 mailing lists, blogs, newsletters and RSS feeds that have something to say about NLP, typically delivering 100 or so relevant links each week. As well as providing links to the news everyone is talking about, that means we also pick up items about smaller companies that get lost in other coverage. Links to stories are organised into themes, making it easier to navigate straight to topics you’re interested in.

When is the newsletter published?

The newsletter is typically published early on a Saturday morning in Sydney, Australia, so that it reaches readers in the US on their Friday mornings, European readers later in the day, and Asian readers on the Saturday morning.
